Full speed ahead to the next disaster Nov 26, 03:19 PM

Attended a concert last saturday of a german singer (worldfamous in Germany) and one of his songs really intrigued me. It is in german, so I will have to translate. the song tells the story of a man who has lost his job, his friends desert him, his house is being torn down by a property developer and his dog has run away. the chorus is, here we go, full speed ahead, onwards to the next disaster, but hey such is life and no doubt I will overcome this in some way!
In our times of perfection, where we try to iron out any difficulty, where any uncertainty should be avoided and all disappointment should be eradicated; such a song simply sounds like a refreshing alternative.
In cognitive behaviour therapy the concept of bad things happening in life is explored extensively. An important aspect of CBT is learning that bad things happen and that the happening of certain bad things is really completely unavoidable.
Accepting that certain people will not like us, that we are not able to pass every test, that not all learning will be easy, that certain friendships/relationships are not for life, that financial adversity is possible and that we sometimes make big mistakes; is the best we can do for our well being!
