I heard about the ‘booze hospital’ today. Apparently in the festive season there is the need for a mobile hospital in many city centers to cater for the many inebriated people. The service is provided by the local health services.
THIS IS ABSOLUTE MADNESS!
Why should my good tax money be spent on people who drink themselves in an alcoholic stupor? It fills me with disgust to think how much of our hard needed health money is wasted on such a scheme! This is irresponsible beyond belief while we still have waiting lists in the health service.
People who drink too much and as a result of that become incapacitated, bring this upon themselves and should not expect to be ‘cared’ for by society. And, society should not feel that it is obliged to cater for these irresponsible people. It is a bit like setting up a trauma treatment service for people who have been caught speeding: providing assistance to deal with the shock of having been caught. Inclusive in this service would of course be interest free loans to pay for the ticket. Like I said: madness.
But OK, let’s go for a caring environment, but let the drunks pay for the cost of the ‘booze hospital’ themselves. We can put up warning signs in these Inner City areas indicating that if you have to use the services of the ‘booze hospital’ there will be a cost to pay and by entering the area and consuming alcohol you agree with the terms of service: a user pays system. The cost of the operation is by the end of the night simply divided by the people who were in need of the service.
I am sure there is a political correct reason why we can’t do this. Long live the age of ‘no one is responsible’!
